Live Edge Myrtle Cutting Board
Hi there! I am an avid woodworker, and love to create something useful from natural wood. We found a downed
myrtle (bay tree) on our property and decided to make something out of it. We began by milling it with an Alaskan mill to make some tables or benches. With one of the slabs we chose to make some cutting boards. Check out how we did it! Sneak peek: We filled the natural cracks of the wood with blue epoxy, for some extra detail.
This is the slab we chose for the cutting board. Gonna be cool ;)
We cleaned it up, sanded it down and got it ready to be cut and carved.
Here it is getting cut up into the shape we wanted!
We cut the handles using a jigsaw. It looks pretty awesome, no?
This is a closeup of the blue epoxy detail. Hope y'all like em! We made a few different variations of these, and they are awesome.

A piece like that, in the long form, would make for a good outdoor bench. Just attach a couple of cut logs on the underside, for legs. They could be any length and no two ever the same. Your cutting board looks wonderful. Good job.
