    Sounds more like oxidation than mold. Grocery stores sell metal polish and that should make the hinges look better.

    I would use vinager, Dawn blue in a spray bottle. Dip a toothbrush in baking soda, spray the hinge and scrub with the toothbrush. Or remove the hardware and soak in a bath of the above mixture, then scrub each piece with toothbrush. Soaking for a few minutes will loosen the crud.

    It helps to know the metal they are made of, but generally, unless they are deeply tarnished, the above replies all work. Also putting them in a crockpot with the soap and vinegar solutions works great for not only paint removal, but will loosen the tarnish.

    If all else fails, take Tarn X and apply with a Q tip and rinse really well. Wear gloves for any chemical use.

    Maybe add a polyurethane to them afterwards since the moisture in the bathroom is what is tarnishing them.
