I just did a wall for a friend that came out well. I used different size black frames that were similar in design. Inside were black and white photos of her kids, pets, other relatives, etc.

We hung the frames so that the boundary of the group forms a large rectangle.

Do you have a collection of something that you could hang. You need enough to fill the wall.

Use a large oval-shaped clock in the middle. If you really want to keep the wreaths, trim down to the circle, and them hang one over the other and perhaps on the other side hang a beautiful family picture (since this is the family room. Hope this helps.

    Hi Sandra,

Maybe a group of 4 or 6 smaller pictures might do it or perhaps a mirror?

We staggered large floating shelves from IKEA in different lengths and used things we had around the house to place on them. I will be using a couple of family photos in large frames to finish the look.

I have a large wall in my home office, found 4 matching larger than normal area rugs about the size you would put under a coffee table @ Grocery Outlet $10.00 each. Painted the wall a dark color, hung the rugs side by side and " framed " them with painted molding, it gives the wall a much softer look , was cheap and easy , took about 4 hours total & easy to change out when tired of the look.

About artwork. You must find a piece that you LOVE and one that you could look at everyday and smile. Posters are good for this project and there are over-sized options too. There are thousands of posters online to choose from. If you decide to do this, mat and frame it. Go to www.allposters.com or www.freeart.com just to name a few. These sites will allow you to "save" as many as you want and freeart sends the smaller ones for free - 4x6 in. and 8x10 in. Take your time, weeks if necessary.

Since this is in your den, could section off the area wall youd like to paint with painters tape. Then using chalkboard paint in a complimentary color of your room, paint the wall. After it is dry, use transfer wall designs, such as scrolls, to embellish. You could hang framed photos here or use chalk to write notes, phone numbers, etc.

Find one large metal work art. Round or flower shape. Scroll work, curl's different metals. Wrought iron is beautiful. Just a thought

Since it is a den, why not a 60” tv hung on the wall to enjoy games, movies, etc. Bigger is better.

Carolina girl gave you good advice. You have to LOVE you art. Don't make the mistake of buying something that matches the room or just to fill the space. Great Big Canvas has a huge selection of art, or better yet go to an art fair and buy from the artist.

Another thing that might be throwing you off is the furniture placement. Maybe a console table on that wall would make it easier or a tall hutch and forget the art.
