My hubby has very oily skin and it seems that something very powerful is needed to remove the heavy yellow stains from his pillow and must be something that will work on colored sheets and cases also. The zip on pillow covers are white but not even hot water with bleach removes these stains.
Add baking soda to the wash and see if that helps. I don't use bleach as it will "gray" or "yellow" fabrics over time as well as weaken the fibers. Use vinegar in the rinse instead of fabric softener.
In these cases (I have a front load HE washer) I use a bit less of my normal detergent and put some oxyclean in the bottom of the washer before I start it. I allow it to presoak overnight (my washer has a timer that I put on 8 hours but you can do this manually) with very warm water so as to not washout my gray sheets. I also set it for extra rinse. I've gotten out even old stains this way! If there is residue repeat the process and you can also add in some Borax to the detergent.
I also don't use bleach washing my whites. I use hydrogen peroxide. Stronger than bleach. Doesn't make whites look dingy, yellow, and doesn'r break down the fibers.

Once the shiny finish is "ruined" there is no way to bring it back.
I would speak to a flooring specialist to find out if there is a product that is recommended to use to add shine. I read that Bona has a high gloss product that is ok for laminates.
Every time I clean my mirrors, they end up having tons of streaks and almost look worse than before I started. What could I use to clean them that won't leave streaks...
