Moss Terrarium
Create a beautiful moss terrarium using foraged elements from your own yard!
You can forage most of these supplies out in the woods or even in your backyard. Any old jar or wide-mouth bottle will work, so hit up your local thrift store. The only thing you may need to buy is the activated charcoal from a pet store or Amazon.
Scoop a couple spoonfuls of gravel or tiny rocks into the bottom of the jar. The gravel should fully cover the bottom of the jar because it will serve as the drainage system for the terrarium to keep it from rotting from too much water.
Add a couple spoonfuls of activated charcoal over the gravel to help keep the terrarium from developing a funny odor.
Scoop some soil over the gravel and charcoal. Tap and shake the jar to help everything settle in.
Use the lid of the jar as a template on top of a sheet of moss. Use the side of the spoon or a knife to cut a circle out of the moss.
Place the moss over the soil, and use a spoon to very gently "tuck" the edges of the moss down.
Add little decorative elements, like little birds or flowers.
To care for the terrarium, spritz the moss with a mist of water once a week.
