Do you get a reasonable amount of sunlight there? If so, you could put in a small raised bed garden. Even a small area would support some beautiful herbs and flowers.
Hi Suzanne, put some landscape fabric down and some edging and put some limestone, rainbow rock, or some other type of rock there. You could put a couple solar lights or shrubs in the afterwards, move the rock where you want to dig, cut the fabric and plant then move the fabric and rock back. Like the picture but on a smaller scale
It looks really wet. Maybe clean out all the weedy growth, put some plants that like damp there--clethra, astilbe, iris, etc. (look up plants that like wet areas). If you need to get to the area behind the wooden board, keep your choices on the small side.
Well, then it's a perfect area for lots of plants that love damp/wet ground. Some ferns, lily of the valley, daylilies, sweet woodruff (a pretty, very low ground cover that gets tiny little flowers in spring); shrubs like swamp azaleas, smooth hydrangea, dwarf fetterbush, inkberry, dwarf fothergilla, ruby spice summersweet.
Clean out all the debri, and laydown landscape fabric, then I would put a flowering shrub in the corner area at least a foot n half from the corner. Then do the whole area in landscape rock or mulch. Paint the plywood to match the house.
