Daughter lost a temporary tooth in her sink drain... about a quarter of a cup or less went with it... took the trap apart and no tooth in trap... is the tooth gone or is there any other where to look? PS: Oh not very handy.

If it wasn't in the trap it's gone. Sorry.

Thank you for your kindness in replying... now this crippled 74 (almost) has to get under the sink and hopefully put everything back together.

If it isn't hung up on the open and close system sink drain (where the water actually leaves the sink basin-use a flashlight and look down it), and not caught by the trap, it is gone. Sorry to say.

Yes, unfortunately once she lost her tooth down her drain she should NOT have poured or put ANYTHING down her drain following it, and then quickly removed the trap from the pipe below the sink to retrieve the missing tooth. Whatever liquid she poured down her drain immediately after it only washed it forever down the drain to the sewer. The ‘trap’ Pipe is called that to only trap an item safely for a few moments, but only then. So sorry your daughter must visit the dentist for a new tooth.

My DH had to take the trap apart when a visitor lost her contact lens down the drain...he found it stuck to the side of the trap. A tooth would be different, however.
