How or what substance can I spray on my plastic bird feeder dome?

I have a clear plastic doom for my birdfeeder. I want to deter the squirrels from my birdfeeder. What can I spray that will make the surface slick so squirrels cannot land on it or chew on it? Will WD 40 work? Thanks!

There's a food grade grease available that you can apply (smear) on the dome and sides. Hope the feeder's not made from plastic or a thin base metal as squirrels' teeth chew through those materials like they're made from butter.

Don't use a non-food grade grease as it will poison the little critters.

Thank you for your input. I am going to return the plastic doom. Even though it is a hard poly material, you are correct....the squirrels would chew on it. I am going to consider a metal baffle as a doom or maybe even an extra large funnel. My feeder will be in my backyard. I might paint or decorate the funnel...thanks again for your reply.

Try WD 40 or baking spray, like olive oil spray.
