How to 'fix' a dark hall that everyone has to use?

I have a long hall way in the house that everyone has to use... it is where the bathroom is so even guests have to make the trek. The hall has no windows and because of its placement in the house no way to add them. I have painted it very light colors, tried a pretty little lamps on the one side that allows a tiny table and , of course, the only outlet is far enough down the hall that the lamp cord sticks out like a sore thumb.

Have you tried using a couple of mirrors - it's amazing how much light they bounce around :)

Another idea, is to add a nightlight to the outlet. There are small LED nightlights that put out a lot of light.

Track lighting would brighten it up
