How to remove melted plastic from heavy stainless pot?
While emptying the pot I brushed up against a plastic freezer bag which melted onto the side and bottom. I've tried to heat it (protecting the burner with foil) to soften and scrape to no avail. Hair dryer doesn't soften it any. Any ideas?

Plastic is a carbon-based polymer with a relatively low melting point and ignition point. I would try catching it on fire and seeing if you can burn it off, or maybe try the goo-gone if the burning isn't up your alley.
ice water then scrape

Try WD-40 and a non-scratch pad. WE-40 is a miracle worker and removes a lot of things you wouldn't think of. I don't know if it will work in this case, but it is inexpensive and won't damage your pot.
i USE BAKING SODA PASTE, MIX WATER WITH BAKING SODA FOR A PASTE AND RUB
Warm it up and wipe with soapy cloth and a bit of Barkeeper's friend. Just be careful with your hands, don't want to burn them.
Have you tried WD 40?
