Just follow the directions for the door handle. If you are replacing a handle the new one should fit right in most handles are standardized that way. At worst maybe you would need shorter screws than what came with the handle. I you need to cut a hole for the handle Lowe's, Home Depot, Ace any of the good hardware places can help you with getting the proper size hole cutter. The cutter has saw like teeth and normally attaches to a drill to make life easier. Just be sure to measure carefully at least 2 times for where the hole needs to be located. Good Luck it's an easy project.
IT should have screws that you just screw in place.
If you have an exterior grade door knob latch set, they are typically set up for a 1.75”-2” thick door.
If that’s your concern, then switch to an interior-sized set, or one that has a wider range of adjustments.
