Hello Susan. Begin preparing your garden by removing any old plants and root systems. Then it's time to till the soil. A rototiller does a quick job turning the soil. If you don't have a rototiller, you can always use a pitch fork and a lot of elbow grease. Break up the clumps of soil as you go. I make my own garden mix with one-third top soil, one-third manure, and one-third sand. I use the sand for water retention. Mix these 3 ingredients and add them to the garden. I also add used coffee grounds from the entire winter. Next it's time to put in your plants. Hope this helps. Good luck Susan.
Hi Cindy,
Thanks so much for your suggestions. I will follow them.
