Boiling water, or digging the weeds up.
Hi Martha, Here's a link that has 5 ways to control weeds, naturally: https://www.organicauthority.com/live-grow/organic-garden-get-rid-of-weeds
Hope this helps!
Yes, I can understand your concern. I use boiling water. Epsom salt followed by boiling water. Vinegar. I also dig out by hand. If you have a large area, you can smother with newspaper, cardboard or landscape fabric. Then cover with mulch.
This year one of the national brands came out with an organic.
My dad used to save the grass clippings year after year. He had a tool to put the clippings around his plants. It all but eliminated the weeds-they can’t get light. It was his way of organic gardening. Potato and banana skins went in there as well as egg shells and coffee grounds. Then the soil got turned over mixing all that together in spring.
1). Hand weeding—-time consuming, hard on back etc, but effective..especially effective for dandelions in lawn in springtime.. creeping Charlie—this is more effective in fall OR very early spring
2) pull— if separates at root ( thistle/ dandelion) spray directly onto root with vinegar
3) baking soda plus salt in a 1:1 ratio—good for rocky or mulched areas that do not contain plants. You need to re-apply after rain..........
