How can keep insects from eating my vegetable garden?

A friend and I’ve made for above ground vegetable boxes I plant tomatoes peppers carrots cauliflower onions squash yellow and zucchini however none of my plants seem to get very big even though I’m spacing them well I feel. But they’re tiny and a lot of like Calab pillar type insects are devouring them . Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated thank you very much for your time

You might want to have your soil tested. For the bugs plant marigolds or other plants that bugs dislike best of both worlds ... beauty and veggies!!

What you could do is Google "companion plants" , this will give you information of what plants to add to your vege garden, these will repel insect pests naturally.
It could also be that your soil is not deep enough to support the vege's you are planting. Vege's like tomatoes and carrots need depth for the long root structure.
Another thing to look at is the quality of your soil, you could add some compost to enrich it.
What I do in addition to all of this is to sprinkle Epsom Salt around the plants, never on them because it will burn them. The ES is a mineral nutrient the plants need.

Two of my raised beds have soil I purchased that said it was for raised beds. The plants in that thrive. In the third one, I used something just called garden soil. Those plants hardly grow.
