How to shiplap a brick fireplace?
How do i put shiplap over brick fireplace? I want it all the way to the top then woul i have to also complete the walls on either side to make it look uniform?

You would need to attach firing strips to the brick then you can shiplap. Would need to do all three sides if it stands out from the wall. Don't do the walls on each side. The fireplace is a focal point and you don't want to take that away.
Don’t forget you must keep a non-combustible finish around the firebox. Without looking it up in the IRC, my memory tells me 12” clearance.
I agree with William. The small boards, maybe 1X3, should be screwed into the fireplace brick vertically so you will need a cement drill to drill pilot holes first.
