Tape along the lip, if you want to remove it. It will keep the formica from splintering when you cut it. Use a guide and a circular saw and cut from the bottom side to remove the lip. Once that is done, sand the edges smooth and you can either get strips of formica to iron on (it has a sticky back that releases glue with a warm iron) for an edging or paint it. I had a formica island that was white and I was tired of it. When we redid the kitchen, I sanded it and painted it red. After several coats, I then added a high gloss coat of the same red in an oil based enamel and finished with coats of poly.

I would cut the lip off. Put tape on cutting line, then cut through. You can usually buy the matching edging. Iron or glue on as per instructions then cut off excess. Add table legs. You can buy from Amazon or IKEA.

You would need to put it up against the wall or cut the lip off but then the end will be hard to fix. Just add legs on the bottom
