How do I apply a stained glass design to this lamp shade?

I have plans in mind for refinishing the base. Our decor is very vintage California Craftsman. I would like to apply a geometric stained glass pattern inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright, arts and crafts, craftsman, prairie, mission look/feel. I don't want to overly darken the shade and lose light. I remember, several years ago, seeing something similar to what I'm looking for done with tissue paper. But, I don't remember details of how the the tissue paper was applied or how the effect of leading was created.

You can use glass paint on fabric. It is thick—basically a colored Elmer’s type of glue. It has texture and will look like glass when dry. The shade has a little color that will affect the finished color. Keep it in mind when choosing the new colors.
Yes. Tissue paper would work and will require laying out all the pieces in advance.
Keep in mind that copying a 3D design requires pieces that are adapted for the tapered frame.
People love Modge Podge, although I’ve not used it.
decoupage is awesome
I'd considered decopaging in combination with the tissue paper pieces. My big concern is to not make the shade any more opaque than absolutely necessary.
