Home improvement stores have screening material of all kinds including what is supposed to be pet proof. I would try them out, they should work for your cats and you.

I got pet screen off Amazon. I have 3 cats with claws and you can't see one snag in the screen. They destroyed the regular screen.

Absolutely pet proof screen. If they can see outside from floor or perches, the better. Usually they only climb when trying to catch something. Best investment I ever made. I had heavy cats so I made sure they had other things to climb on so weight wasn't on entire panel. The mesh holds up. How it's attached securely is to be considered. Pet beds on floor made a big difference. Lazy cats pretending to be outside.
