How do I decorate this?

Our bulkhead isn’t a normal “go straight up” bulkhead. It protrudes out about a foot and it’s so ugly. What do I do to make it a bit more attractive??

I would paint it an accent color and hang something on it depending on your taste. Could be plates, could be a favorite saying or sign, or even baskets.

Make it a focal point , by painting it an accent color .hang glass planters with air plants or suffix . Take close up pictures of things in your kitchen , or garden and print them and hang them in that area.

Nice kitchen. When I first saw the pictures I thought of an awning. Glue fabric to the bulkhead over sink and opposite side. Attach ruffle to edge. Or sew a strip of fabric and use a deeper return on bottom rod. What ever you choose, have fun.

You can put decotive small plates up there. It gives some texture and style. Especially if you have a theme. ( like coffee, or baking , or wine ect.)

Agree with LittleCookie. You already have a very busy backsplash. Anything that you put on the bulkhead will be competing with the tiles and may look just junky. Also keep in mind that decor items this high up are harder to keep clean.

Why was that bulkhead created in the first place? Was it because of the can lights? It appears that you are in the midst of redoing your kitchen, why not cut them back flush with cabinets or tear them out completely. If you do this you will need to reposition your lighting. Plates and stuff hung up on those bulkheads/soffits will only become greasy and dirty and you will be up and down on a ladder to clean them all the time.

Because all the plumbing for the upstairs bathroom is ran through tjem and that’s a fix I’m not willing to pay for. Lol.

I would try to make them disappear into the ceiling visually. Don't do anything to make them stand out. I had a similar set-up, and all I had hanging above the sink was a pretty clock.
