Hello Daniel. The most important thing when growing plants in containers is drainage. If there is not adequate drainage, water will collect at the bottom of the pot and the roots will sit in water. The plant will suffer from root rot and do very poor or die. If your container has holes at the bottom, you won't have to worry about root rot. Extra water will escape thru the drain holes. If your container does not have holes at the bottom, you should fix it so that the roots never sit in water. You can do this by placing at least two inches of rocks in the bottom of the pot. Then put a layer of newspaper on top of the rocks. Put dirt on top of the newspaper. And then put your plant into the soil. I hope this info helps you. Good luck.
