Hello Nadine. If you are starting your plants from seeds, this would be the time to start them indoors. Depending on which planting zone you live in will dictate when to plant them in the ground. You can begin your Spring cleaning in your garden now too. Remove any old plants, including roots. You can til your garden now too and prepare beds. Here are some vegetables that you can plant is April: lettuce, radishes, spinach, chard, peas, beets, and carrots. I hope this helps you. Good luck Nadine.

Think about what you are planting....what do those need to thrive? Are you going containers or in ground planting? Do you need to till up a growing bed? If so, get the sod ie grass removed so your plants can take over.

It depends on your location and the weather. You could start seeds in April in a warm, sunny, sheltered location if you are in the Northeast like I am. I used to use peat pots, but, find it isn't that hard to start in flowerpots. The peat pots are great for transplanting if you don't want to separate them before planting. I start with a bag of soil, seeds, a small garden shovel, small flowerpots/peat pots and a sunny windowsill. I started the flowers pictured from seeds in a flower pot last year.
