Good Day. I have a couple of area throw rugs. For instance, bathroom and hall. The bottom of the rug is now peeling very bad. How can I stop the peeling? The top part of the rug is still beautiful. Plus the bathroom rug needs to be washed. But it falls apart at the bottom in my machine. Thank you I look forward to hearing back from you. I follow you you have helped me out a great deal. Keep it coming I am watching for new ideas. :-)

The peeling most likely occured either from heat or from insufficient space in your laundry machines. These rugs generally require laundering on cold, gentle cycle, with Woolite in a large capacity machine, and air dry on a clothesline. I know of no remedy for the peeling.

You can tear all that peeling rubber off the back, and spread a silicone glue on it instead. This means you can just hose off the rug outside and let it dry when it needs cleaning, and the rug won't slip when placed back in the house. Good luck!

I always wash mine in the washing machine and then when they’re done,I put them outside to dry and then they don’t peel,no special care at all.

Continuing to use throw mats with disintegrated or worn down backings is presenting what could be a dangerous trip hazard.

Even a 'small slip' can cause serious injury.

In the interests of your safety, replace them with new.
