What material do you plan on using for the parking pad? Would this be covered like a carport or just a strip to park on?

I just want to extend my pebble rock drive edging with space for over flow parking. I have LOTS od pebble rock left over.

Occasional driving or parking over my pepple rock edging seems to do no damage.

A pad out of asphalt? Gravel? Concrete? Mainly grade it to accept whatever you're making it.

just a strip to park on where grass is worn. Probably should do asphalt which a contractor would have to do but we could dig it out and level it.

Dig it out about three inches and fill with gravel level with the driveway. You could dig out six inches, put down three inches of gravel, and fill with three inches of asphalt if you don't mind the time and work involved.

    Cookie,

Gravel is an easy fix and looks nice if you use a nice border. You can always remove it. Dig out about 3 " below your driveway. Lay down landscape fabric to keep the gravel from migrating into the soil. Use pavers or landscape timbers to make a border level with the driveway. Fill with a sharp edged compactable gravel. It's hard to get a paving company to do such a small job at a reasonable price unless you are redoing the whole driveway. If you are really into it, fill the whole area with pavers.

Is rough edged gravel required? I have lots of pebble rock left over from making an 18 inch border on each side of my drive. We drive and even (partially) park on it when I need to keep the entire double drive open. Friends have "gifted me" with a loss of grass on one side by parking on the grass.

Can I dig 3 inches and put pebble rock in to cover the damaged area and have space for infrequent 1 car parking, like wwhen I have to move one car to get another car out? The soil is very hard clay.

Some types of gravel compact better and are less likely to get stuck in tire treads and be spit out. Use whatever you have if that has not been a problem for you.
