Use an expandable folder with dividers for each adult, keep in a file holder.

Hello Noreen. You can get yourself some files and a file holder that will keep the folders standing up. Mark the folders with the name of what is inside them. One for incoming mail and one for out going mail. Also one for each household bill: Water bill in one envelope, one for your electric bill, one for the gas bill, insurance and so on. That way you can easily reference any of your bills. The best way to use this file system is to open your mail every day. Pitch any mail that is "junk" mail. And put each bill in its own file. Don't let your mail pile up and be a dreaded chore. I hope this info helps you. Good luck Noreen.

  • Well I receive enough mail myself for 5 people. I am big on trays or bins. I would find a space and have a tray for each occupant. Whoever gets the mail sorts it for each person. Then each person is responsible for their own stuff. I have a filing system that works for me. Try different versions to see what works best for your household.

Toss junk immediately. Have a trash can in a convenient place and don't go through the mail unless you are near the trash can. One family I read about had a Sunday mail sorting. On Sunday afternoon, any mail that came in that week that wasn't immediately dealt with was taken care of on Sunday. They had a 'no exceptions' rule. They said after several weeks, this became a habit and the mail no longer piled up. Whatever system you use, something like this might also help.
