I sprinkle baking soda and then spray with diluted vinegar (1:1 with water) let it bubble then use a rag to spread it all over. Let sit for 10 minutes and start scrubbing.
Hi Barbara,
If you are looking to break down grease you can also try lemon and baking soda. I slice a lemon in half and sprinkle baking soda on the area. Then I use the lemon half to rub it into the grease spot, it creates a paste. It works great at breaking down caked on grease.

you might be able to get creative with duck(t) tape. Or, if tears aren't awful, you can paint them. Otherwise, you're going to have to recover. Not hard to do if tops come off easily. Don't even have to sew. Tuck and staple.

Mix enough water in a cup of baking soda to make a paste. Then "paint" it on the dirty spots until they are all covered. Spritz the white vinegar on them. They will bubble up and turn brown. Let them set ten minutes and wipe with clean damp rag. Repeat as needed. This is best used frequently and not on a neglected oven.
