Armour Etching cream is great. Martha Stewart also makes an etching cream. Go to Hobby Lobby or Michaels with a coupon and get it half off. Or order on Amazon.
Make a design that you like on contact paper. Using an exacto knife, carefully cut out what you want o etch. Remove backing and stick to the glass. Use Armor Etch Creme. Rinse with cold water, remove the contact paper and dry the glass.
If you have a Silhouette or Cricut cutting machine, you can make all sorts of stencils out of contact paper to stick on glass and then use the Armour etching cream that others have suggested. Michaels has a smaller sized bottle, get it and use a competitor’s 50% or even better 60% off one item coupon.
The Martha Stewart brand is way too expensive, and the Folk Art brand (I believe) has terrible reviews.
Etching cream will work, but it is not even close to as nice looking and definitely does not wear as well, Especially on glassware. Even a cheap handheld non recoverable blaster will do a better job on your glassware. Plus you don't have to use Special stencil vinyl that cost a fortune. You can use any calendared vinyl you have laying around . It holds up great to blasting. I personally use Walnut shells now instead of all the oxides. You have to replace it more often but the Dust isn't a carcinogen as far as I know. Plus it vacs out really nicely with a shop vac.
