My cabinets are pressed wood, swollen from water, how do I repair.
I want to paint them but don't know where tostart or if it is possible to sand them smoothe enough to paint.
Clean the cabinets thoroughly with water, dish liquid and baking soda to remove any grease, etc. Try a product such as "Liquid Gold" to redo the surface following the instructions on the container.
Clean and if you are just wanting to brighten the wood up you can use Tung oil or hemp oil. :)

if it is real wood, use an oil like old english :)
I use Old English furniture polish OR Murphys oil to make them look new again. This is part of my spring cleaning projects and fall cleaning projects.
