Run a cycle of hot water and 2 cups of vinegar throu9gh the rinse cycle. Check the front door rubber to see if there is any soap build up. If you use a 1/2 cup vinegar in your rinse instead of the softeners, you will find that the suds will be killed totally and the machine will stay fresh and clean. The vinegar also acts as a softener.

I also found that leaving the lid up or open after doing a load of laundry helps. About half and hour gives the tub time to dry out.
