It's a cool project to be able to prop up a barrel near the gutter so that you can use the spicket to access the rain water that you collect. Good luck.
If you have those big blue barrels, most intall a hose attachment at the bottom edge of the barrel before filling them up. There are lots of videos on YouTube on how to install them and how to install a filter to the house downspouts to fill them up.
Otherwise, for this year you will have to use a dip the watering can in them.
