How do I create a planting bed around a tree stump on a slope?
The tree stump is almost ground level. The slope is not severe but encourages runoff towards the house/driveway. Would like to landscape without removing the tree stump due to the sprinkler system problems that would result.

I would think you might need to expand the area of the bed around the tree pretty wide. If you create a larger circle you can spread out the plant and let them fill in the space. This article might help: https://living.thebump.com/make-flower-bed-border-around-tree-slope-13449.html
Use the stump as a plant stand. Put your bed in around it, although you might find it hard to get plants in around the roots, and put a good sized decorative planter on the stump. Is there a way to redirect the water with a swale? That's a mound of earth that forms a kind of dam to redirect water. It can be planted with grass, ground covers or bedding plants to make it pretty and also absorb excess water from rainfall. Pinterest has a lot of ideas you can research. I'm looking for a solution for a side yard myself!
My dad build some around a tree on a slope with solid bricks. They are small enough that you can step them around as needed.
