What is the best way to clean faux wood blinds?
My blinds need to have a good Spring cleaning, if I take them down to soak, what is the best detergent to use? Or the easiest way to deep clean blinds?

We have wood look vinyl blinds and we make a solution of vinegar and hot water and use the shower sprayer. They we do it again with a multi-purpose cleanser.
I don't soak my blinds. Take them down and put enough water in the tub to cover the blinds maybe 4 inches or so. It is easier if you have a helper, but I do them myself. Pull the blinds up tight when you take them down then release them into the tub. Take a soft bath brush and lightly go over on one side then the other. Hose off with the shower. Any soap will do. Shampoo, dish detergent, it does not matter. You can do the same outside when the weather is warm have some one hold them up, brush with soapy water rinse and stand on end to drip dry.
Jessica,
This is not a favorite task of mine, but it has to be done every so often. I suggest you pick a day when it is going to be very warm and don't worry about getting wet!
Go to the Dollar Store and buy yourself a broom that has those stiff plastic bristles! This will allow you to stand up and scrub them...sure saves wear and tear on your back!
If you have an outside porch, a picnic table where you can work, or even a tarp on the ground outside, all you need is your broom, your hose, some Dawn dish washing liquid, a bunch of drying cloths, and a place to lean them up to drain!
Sponge the soapy water on each blind and scrub. When that side is clean, turn it over and clean the other side; rinse and then gather up like a bundle so you can stand it up to drain.
After most of the water has drained off, lay the blind down on some towels...or sheets, wipe any missed spots and dry.
I like to leave mine standing up for a couple of hours after they have been dried just to make sure they have drained well.
Hi Jessica, how I myself clean my faux blinds is take down and put them in the bathtub / shower without any water!! Then I use bathroom foam cleaner, you can use scrubbing bubbles but I myself get foaming SUPER OXYGEN Bathroom Cleaner from Dollar Tree it works just as good as the more pricey bathroom foam cleaners. Just spray them really good and let sit for about 10 minutes then spray them off using the shower head with warm water & dry off using a towel ! For more grimy blinds do the exact same thing except before rinsing off you can use a scrubbing brush ( w/soft bristles) or a wash cloth wipe or brush then rinse off & towel dry, that's it all done !!! I hope this helps you. :-) Good luck
