Use a heavy duty paint like the Kilz primer. That will cover all the stains.
Hi Shawn,
I'd first clean the ceiling with TSP to remove as much grease as possible. Be sure to wear goggles so that it doesn't drip into your eyes. Once that is done, use a good primer like Kilz then paint the ceiling with the paint of your choice. For the future, I'd suggest installing an exhaust fan over your stove if possible. If not, I'd make cleaning the ceiling a regular priority to preserve your paint job. :) Wishing you the best.
Thank you both. Does Kilz do paint and primer in one?
Linda has got it. Clean, prime, and paint.
Thank you. Will do.
I use Dollar Tree Awesome Orange in the gallon to clean greasy ceilings in kitchens and a car sponge to make quick work of it. I suggest you use semi-gloss paint to make future cleaning easy.
Thank you all for the awesome tips. My local hardware is having paint on sale this week.
