Can I paint a design on an outdoor/indoor carpet?
Wondering if I could paint a design on outdoor/indoor carpet I have in patio area. There is a roof covering that carpet. If it can be painted, what kind of paint & would a sealer keep it from chipping (if so, what kind of sealer?) Thanks!

Yes you can paint the carpet with a stencil. I would use a good acrylic paint. Then seal with spray on poly. OR you can try spray painting with a stencil, but you will definitely have to seal the edges of the stencil.. No top coat necessary with Rustoleum
Poly will not hold up outside, only an interior product. Use only exterior rated products, like Rustoleum spray paint.
Hi Isabel,
Here are several ideas I found on Hometalk.
Of course you can, Isabel, as long as you realize the patio underneath will be painted, too. You can use stencils best on very short carpet, but you can use a paintbrush or wide roller on longer carpet with mixed results. Whichever, I recommend something of the quality of Rustoleum 2X for painting plastic. This sounds like a super project to post on Hometalk! Best wishes!
I used outdoor exterior semi gloss to paint a stenciled design on mine! No sealer needed.
