Take one tablespoon of white vinegar or lemon juice, and add enough milk to equal one cup of liquid. You've just made sour milk! Pour the sour milk in a glass pan, and soak the tarnished silver pieces in it for 30 minutes. Then wash the silver with dish detergent, rinse and buff dry with a soft cloth.

Where did you see about cleaning silverware with milk? I had never heard of this so I googled it. I found an article that said that you could clean tarnished silver with sour milk. If your silverware isn't real silver or silver plated, it won't work. If it is real silver, Lynn copied and pasted the article that I found.

I have never heard of this, but here are some ideas for you:

    Try one of these:

    No more tarnishing with aluminum

Boil 4 cups of water, a tablespoon of baking soda, and some aluminum foil. Place silverware in for 10 seconds then remove with kitchen tongs.

    Ketchup isn’t just for eating

Tarnished silver can be polished with ketchup using a paper towel – for silver that has crevices, use a toothbrush.

Kill two birds with one stone

When using Windex to clean your windows, spray some on a rag and use it to scrub your silver.

    Brush your silver with toothpaste

Use circular motions to brush non-gel and non-abrasive toothpaste onto silver. Leave on for five minutes before washing off with water.

    Use soda for tarnished silver

Fill a plastic bowl with lemon-lime soda and place slightly tarnished silver in it for one hour. Rinse and dry with a paper towel.

    Here's some help:

    Lemon juice

Your silver will sparkle after soaking overnight in a mixture of 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 1½ cups water, and ½ cup of instant dry milk.
