Are used to spray Lysol and thought it was freshening up my mattress but since then I’ve stopped using chemicals. Besides I figure it’s my own germs so vacuuming and spot cleaning has always worked for us.

I would try vacuuming them using your vacuum’s attachments.

Book came out years ago by a, believe it or not, a Harvard trained attorney, on cleaning everything in the house. Yes, DO vacuum the mattress every 3 months. Plus...sunshine kills odors. It might be a slog to carry it out but it works. Kills bacteria that produce those odors. Good luck. And go to library to find that book.

Vacuum it, then steam clean it. You could also a carpet cleaner that can be used on upholstery as well. Once it is completely dry put a mattress cover on it. I keep a cover on my mattress at all times. Helps with allergies.
