How to paint over grass cloth wallpaper?

You. Hold skim coat it first with plaster then sand then paint it

Use a good primer, like Kilz, then paint the color of your choice with a semigloss or eggshell finish. . Yes grass cloth can be painted over, and it actually looks great with the texture. I did it in my kitchen years ago and it has held up very well.
