My markets don't carry it either. I like it mixed with sprouts on a tuna sandwich.

I plant leaf lettuce each year in the spring. Since it is a cool weather crop, like watercress, I plant a half dozen plants in a really large pot and put it on a board with four castors under it so that is moveable. When the weather is getting hotter and the sun higher in the sky, I move it to a more shaded location and let it get morning and evening sun, but not the hot afternoon sun. By doing this, my leaf lettuce doesn't bolt until early fall, one year it lasted nearly until the first frost. If you use pots, remember to check the moisture level in the pots frequently, even in my big pots they needed watering daily, my potted tomatoes needed watering at least two times a day when real hot out or they would start wilting.
Watercress is easy to grow! So yes, follow Naomie's link above. I just wanted to say hello from Huntsville, AL, the watercress capital of the world! (One of our lesser claims to fame, LOL!)
