I wouldn't, difficult for paint to adhere. Look at wallpaper, surprisingly they have washable wallpaper. I use Steve's wallpaper online, amazing deals on huge selection. I bought a gray brick for a feature wall and then will use it on my backsplash. It actually looks real.

The easiest way is to clean it well, scuff up with 000 steel wool, do not sand will cause scratches that will show thru. Tape and cover everything up, open doors and use spray paint for plastic. Several light coats.
