Who Knew Old Chairs Could Look so Good...

I am a total junker. So, when I saw these two chairs in someone's garbage for our city's spring clean up a few years back, I had to save them. It may take a while for me to get to a project, but eventually I will. These little chairs were finally calling to me this summer and I had just the idea to make them great. I turned them into a bench for my back patio! With some scrap wood, a little stain and spray paint they are now one awesome piece of fun furniture! Junk? Pheez!
Here they are free from the curb. One spindle was missing and the seat covers were, well gross!
Since I couldn't replace the spindle I decided to cut them all out. I also removed the seats.
Using pocket holes and scrap wood I attached the two chairs together.
I also used scrap 1x4's for new seat backs and attached with pocket holes.

After painting the bench, I stained some long scrap boards and added them with gorilla wood glue and nails. I love the contrast of stain in the different woods, it gives it a fun unique pattern.

A new seat for the family, and all I spent was 6 bucks on spray paint, sa-weet! Who knew those old chairs could look so good!
