I sprinkle diatomaceous earth throughout your yard, mainly in areas of high ant concentration and pour it in the ants' nests. Diatomaceous earth kills ants by working its way into their exoskeleton, suffocating them and drying their body’s moisture.
feed them equal parts sugar and borax.

I sprinkle baking soda on the ant piles. Don't put it on the plants or it will kill them. I have one of those water things that attached to the hose and has a rod that takes the water down into the ground. I place it into the ant mound and turn the water on strong for sever minutes. It will drown the eggs and the excaping ants will move. If I have cracks in the sidewalk where ants or grass comes up, I place a little baking soda in the cracks and it clears . Also Diatomaceous earth works.
sprinkle dry grits near the ant mound and they will carry the "food" in but can't digest it.
If you have peony bushes, they need the big black ants to survive.
You just need some Borax, sugar and water.
Add 1/2 Cup of sugar to a bowl.
Then add 3 Tablespoons of Borax. (It’s a detergent that can be found in cleaning aisle of the grocery store). Mix together well.
Add a little bit of water.Just enough to make a thick syrup. Add to a shallow dish and watch the ants flock to it!
***Keep this mixture away from children and dogs! The ants will nibble on this mixture, but won’t die immediately. They will take it back to their nests, killing the entire colony! If you have ant hills, simply dribble this mixture on and around the nest. The ants are drawn to the sugar, but the Borax will kill them! Whoop!
