Hi Paula - This is the most effective all-natural weed killer DIY that we use. It's even been featured on Hometalk! Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly
All these are good ideas but, there's problems with them. Vinegar only kills the green of the weed not the root, salt degrades your soil and kills the good bacteria and microorganisms, not a good idea. Your best environmentally friendly solution would be plane old boiling water. Does the job and weeds don't return and also does not kill everything around it.
If it is a place such as a driveway or walk then can add some salt. Do not use this mix on a lawn. It can be used on weeds too if you spot spray.
I tried that soap and vinegar trick, didn’t work at all. Be aware that salt will kill everything around it and make the soil barren for a good period of time so be judicious.
