Open windows and air out if possible but you will probably need to do more. A essential oil spray would work well. Here is a tutorial for that https://familyfocusblog.com/make-essential-oil-spray/

The best way to get the smell of cigarettes out of the home is to use Simple Green. It cleans and deodorizes at the same time. To rid the room of smoke, use one of the electric filters that vacuum the unwanted smoke as you set a cigarette in the ash tray and also the surrounding area around the vacuum ashtray. You did not specify if it was the smoke or the odors you were trying to be free from, hope this helps.

Odo-Ban has worked best for me in the past. My husband used to drive a truck and every time he got a new one it smelled like cigarettes. Wiped down and spritzed with this stuff and it went from yuck to eucalyptus scent then no smell in a week.

  • If it's a room or an entire home, invest in an air purifier to clean the room. Walls will need to be washed. I would remove carpet and all soft furnishings.

For furniture, I place everything in the sun and let it air out. If the smell is still bad, I use odoban. I also wipe it down with vinegar water and let it dry in the sun. If it still smells, the entire piece gets a clear coat to seal in the smell. I typically use shellac.

depending on how bad it is you wash down the wall, prime paint, steam clean the carpet. get the vents cleaned. if its that bad in there in some cases the company i worked for would actually tear down the walls and replace in bad areas and get new carpet and padding in others. things like febreeze will NOT work.
