How to cover skylights??

I have a few skylights in this apartment and when the sun shines though it gets very warm in here. Any ideas how to cover them up without doing any damage?

I went to the auto store and bought window tint sheets. That was years ago. If u can get them get dark ones and they self stick to the inside of the ski light ..

if u can reach them, i took enough burlap to cover the window, used ribbons/hooks on the top / bottom (or u can use a tension rod on both ends) it gives it a rustic look, filters the light/heat..and is removable when u want)

You could also use a curtain made with a casing at top and bottom along with two spring tension rods.

You can attach fabric inside the opening with evenly spaced thumb tacks which will require little or no repair later on!

You can put adhesive opaque contact paper on them much like you would do a window in a shower or bath area, or I would use two tension rods with a pretty fabric stretched between them.

the easiest way is to buy tension rods that will fit in the wells of the skylights and use fabric or curtains cut to fit to block the light. did this in a house where the skylights were on the south side of the house and heat was intense. I highly suggest use white fabric or curtains which still makes a nice light. not a seamstress? use duct tape or stitch witch/fusible webbing and your iron. If that is too much use straight/safety pins and make your own hem. goo dluck

I had this same thing in my kitchen. I used fabric and two tension rods. The tension rods go on the shorter two sides about 3 inches up from the opening. Fold your fabric to fit plus 5" on each rod side. On the rod side of the fabric, fold over about 3" and pin or sew across making a casing to run the rods through. Slip the rods through the casing and hang. I used a lighter table cloth with a pattern to match my kitchen. It works well and is easy and inexpensive. It took me maybe 20 minutes and can be removed or changed out easily with no damage.
