What color are your floors and counter tops? Unless you are changing those out you should choose something that works with those. Purchase a paint sample and paint a small area and live with it a few days to see how you like it before you paint the whole area.

Hi Gloria, could you add some photos for us? A color choice can really be narrowed down according to the color of your cabinets and your floors as well as rooms that connect to your kitchen.

Hi Gloria, If you have a set of dishes you like with a pattern you could take a color from that or maybe the color of a vase you have in there. You could pick up the color from the floor but go lighter or darker. I took a color from my counter top and when darker but I have a lot of windows in my kitchen so I didn't have to worry about it being too dark.

1.) Look around your house to see a common color that you love. You want your kitchen to flow with the rest of the house. Snap some photos for reference- just remember that incandescent and some led lights will cast a yellowish hue over the colors. Try to photo in natural light.

2.) Decide if you want your kitchen light and reflective- or saturated and intense or darker, more dramatic. Pick a tint, a color blended with white to lighten it up. Or choose an intense brilliant hue ( purer color, less white) or a shade (color plus black to darken it).

3.) Consider how your color choices will work with your exhibiting cabinetry, counter tops and backsplash.

4.) Go to your hardware store paint center and pick up color chips .

5.) Tape your color chips to the places they will potentially go.

6.) Live with it and study it. Get a glass of tea and sit in the kitchen and just allow your eyes and heart see how the colors play. Eliminate workers. Narrow the field.

7.) Get sample amounts of your colors and paint a swatch on your wall.

8.) Repeat the live with it.

9.) Go for it and accept your choice- don't second guess your choice, just enjoy the change!

    10.) Happy painting!
