How do I update this old chest of drawers?

So i have this old 80s/90s 3 drawer unit and because imndisabled with spine problems i needed the extra height for putting on make up.Dad and i used scrap wood and built the top. I've covered the top in white faux wood contact paper and used blue marble contact paper as my room used to be blue... now its sage/mint green and white.Do any of you lovely lot have any ideas how to brighten it up and make it all one peice?Please ignore the clean washing in fromt of it......

I agree that paint is your best option.
Paint, but would be better if you can remove the contact paper and adhesive.
Hi ! I would use chalk paint ! You can do it a off white with sage drawer fronts . Or white and stencil sage colored ferns on it . Good luck !
I would decoupage matching green foliage of some kind over the white base coat. You can get tissue paper with designs of many kinds from paper supply companies, I think Papermart is one, or you could try ebay.
I agree changing the color will help. I would remove the top addition and raise the dresser. One way would be to have Dad add a box base at the bottom. Or you might be able to just add tall chunky legs. Paint all or just the legs and base. Putting the height addition at the bottom it wont stick out as much.
Hiya, we looked at raising it from the bottom but there is an issue of mold so i need to keep it mobile so it can be cleaned
Love the glass knobs on the dresser. I would paint the dresser either a dark blue, not navy[blue would look great with the green walls.] Then I would wax the dresser in dark wax. I agree Rustoleum makes some great products.
I would also buy some molding and update the mirror, and you can paint the molding the same color as the dresser.
To start, remove dads work & save it. Also remove the original top & save.
Use thick plywood to put in place of the original top ( insert it in the original top location, to make completely flat ) What you are trying to do is remove that curved edge in the middle of the dresser (A lot of screws). Depending on the condition of the original top- I would use that in place of the "new top" your dad put on, so your makeup stand has the original top. Now install the drawers, sides & a little taller back -to use your mirror the long way not the tall way.
Now take Dads top, attach some casters to it, flip the dresser. Paint the "moldy" parts with kilz & rustoleum, use "dads top" as the base. 1 piece & movable without the curved middle section. You could even get some in-expensive full length mirrors & attach to the sides on hinges (2 part epoxy) to be able to check out your outfit of the day. Thats my 2cents
