Hi. I want to remove popcorn from my bedroom ceiling and hide fan wire
Want to hide fan wire in concrete ceiling and attach it behind shitrock to electric outlet. Any tips on how to remove a popcorn ceiling?
Wet it with a pump sprayer. For easier scraping and practically no dust during popcorn ceiling removal, use a garden pump sprayer to mist the ceiling and let it soak in for about 15 minutes before scraping. Only give it a light misting—too much water could damage the drywall or loosen the joint tape.
Scrape it off with a putty knife! Cover the floor and wear a respirator mask to be safe!
Work in small sections at a time. It's messy and time consuming, which is why many people cover it.
empty room, hang plastic over vents and doorway, tarp over floor, spray ceiling with 1/2 downy and 1/2 water mixture-get pretty damp & scrape with wide putty knife, don't let it sit while damp it causes drywall to get wet ,do sections you can reach from ladder/scaffold moving around room, clean up as you go do not track out of room(incase it has asbestos in it) Asbestos is only dangerous when dry and fibers are blowing around then inhaled( hence wetting it before scraping) wear dust mask and eyeprotection, sweep up all scrapings and throw out in trash, damp wipe everything off when done ceiling, walls, baseboards, ceiling fan, light fixtures. I've done all the ceilings in my house 1600sq ft ,it's actually easy, a little time consuming(mostly the clean-up) but the best thing you'll ever do for your house. when done prime drywall then paint
