I believe you can buy the sort found in hospitals - rubber material, or add a sheet of polythene plastic sheeting to underside of normal mattress cover or use disposable sheets......

Hello Marysue! So many places to buy mattress covers! Amazon, your local Walmart, Kohls, Bed, Bath and Beyond, Pottery Barn, Macy's, Slumberland, and Menards even has them! You may have to pay a bit more for a really nice mattress cover that should last but it would be worth it in the long run.
I think putting them in the dryer breaks them down. So I would line dry it after I wash it
