I have a couch that's made of vinyl and it is peeling. I would like to know how can it be fixed? I paid $20 fir it off of Swap & Shop. It is a good couch ,it has a recliner in each in so you already know it is a good couch & it's heavy. So what can be done to fix that? Also it has a nice height to it but I am a tall lady and want to know how can I boost up the seat cushions and arm rest si I can get up and down with out it being a struggle? Any help you may have for this project?

No way to repair it. Slipcover or reupholstering is the only solution. Rips and tears can be repaired

A slip cover would hide the peeling and give you a new look at the same time. Amazon.com has some great prices and a very large selection to choose from.

You can increase the overall height by adding to the feet of the couch the amount you want to bring it up. You can use chunks of 4X4 wood blocks and carve out a divot in the center to put the feet into so they are secure. Make sure you have the depth of the divot equal in each one, and make sure that you have the depth of the divot you need added to the height of the wood you use or you lose that much of the height you increase the sofa. It is much like the ones you can purchase for raising a bed, but you can make them the height you want and paint or stain them to match the feet that are on the sofa. I would think making them out of solid wood would also be sturdier than the plastic ones. You could also go a little fancier by checking out some of the already done wood for fence posts in various designs.

I agree a slipcover is needed, Wayfair also has some nice ones. As to height of the sofa, they have lots of replacement legs you can get in many styles to raise the height. When I injured my knee, I got a 3.5" slab of dark grey firm foam and put it under the cushions trimming to fit. I've kept it in mine after my knee healed as I'm very tall too and it makes getting up easier and is more firm. The dark grey color also is pretty invisible between the sofa bottom and cushions.

We have a vinyl one, also. Look at the back of the couch and see if there is enough hanging back there to cover your peeling area. Cut it off and Then sew and staple to fix it. This is not a very good explanation but maybe you can figure it out.
