How to repair peeling faux leather/vinyl upholstery?

    Hi Jeff,

    Stick back all the bits that are peeling off. Use liquid shoe polish to colour in the cracks, then use something like Mod podge to seal the whole. You will never get a perfect finish, but maybe the look of old leather. Hope that helps, I do seem to remember in a can called Plasticote? that might be worth looking at. Good luck!

    Thanks John. The peeling is far too prevalent to reattach but I’ll give the Podge a try as long as it doesn’t dry too hard. I’m also looking into some leather/vinyl filler along with leather paint afterwards, but I’ll experiment with everything before I throw in the towel or cover the entire recliner. It’s one of those Swedish styles with the wooden circular base.
