You can use sachets placed around the house and fill them with potpourri. This way you can change out the potpourri when the scent fades. You can also use different scents in different rooms.

I wash walls with a small amount of Mr. Clean in warm water. I am not sure what you are cleaning--everything?
I like to open the windows on warm days. Remove (or clean) anything that causes bad odors. Light a candle. Mop with strong smelling cleaner. Fresh laundry always smells good.
